Paseo Alliance Meeting
January 9, 2008
Minutes
The meeting was called to order by Leon Barnes at 1:30 with 9 in
attendance.
Mona Hartzler acted as secretary for the meeting. Leon reported a balance of
about $260 in our account. Annual class dues of $50 are due again.
Baylor Edwards will continue to keep the membership list up to date. He said
when some of his classmates visit KC, they contact him to get a lunch scheduled
with other local classmates. This might be something other class reps could
offer.
The focus of the meeting was to discuss future projects for this group. It was
decided to continue having a fall picnic. Loose Park was chosen for the
location, and Leon will ask Carol to reserve the shelter house on an available
Saturday or Sunday this fall. Baylor suggested we also have a contingency plan
for rain. A committee will need to be formed, and more work will be done on this
at the next meeting.
Trent Wesley, a member of the Paseo Alumni Association, said they raised about
$200 after expenses for their scholarship fund at the November Breakfast Dance.
They will also be holding a Sadie Hawkins Dance. Annual membership is $25. It
was suggested we might have a scholarship donation can at our picnic.
Trudy Hall has been collecting old Paseons and has interest in the history of
the school. She was appointed our historian, and Baylor will help her. There was
discussion on scanning the old books for the website, both on CDs and with
lower resolution for the web. Roy Busdiecker, webmaster, said space could be a
problem, although by the time all the scanning takes place, the website may have
added more space. Roy accessed the site so we could see there have been over
6,250 hits. We still need a representative from 1959, 60, 61, 63, 64 and
more recent years to be listed as class contacts.
Trudy also would like to see us offer reunion help if requested, due to all the
reunion experience in this group. Mona suggested Reunion Resources might be a
link on the website, although probably just contacting class reps would
accomplish the same thing. When thinking of future meeting topics, we could
offer a round table discussion of reunion ideas. We need speakers and topics for
future meetings in order to advertise to our classes and bring in new members.
We discussed continuing our meetings at the Trailside Center at 99th & Holmes,
with perhaps an occasional lunch meeting. We will have a report from Carol at
the next meeting on the date for the picnic, and further planning will be done.
The next meeting will be on Wed., Feb. 6 at 1:00.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:00.
